Planning Ahead & For the Record:
Community Preservation Act Grant -
WORK IN PROGRESS Thanks again to the Town of Yarmouth and to all of you who voted and approved the $100,000 Community Preservation Grant for YPL. Our new gutters on the front of the building were installed in July and we are preparing for a new HVAC system installation beginning mid-September to be followed immediately by re-pointing of the bricks on the front of our historic building. These projects may cause some disruption. A little extra caution and attentiveness when entering and exiting our parking lot will be needed. Some changes in traffic patterns on certain days, indicated with signage, may occur. There may be some noise and perhaps limited access to parts of the library. However, we will do our utmost to keep you informed about any changes and to mitigate the effects of this work on the operation of the library. If you have any questions, please give us a call. |
Also, a note from our Buildings & Grounds Committee: The YPL is scheduled to start the project to update our 25-year-old air conditioners in the building. We’re doing more than replacing them; however, we’re changing them to heat pumps that will both cool the inside air when they pump heat out of the building, (as the A/C does) but will also pump heat from outside to heat the building in the winter. The library hopes to benefit from a substantial state rebate that encourages conversions like ours to move from heating systems dependent on fossil fuels (like the natural gas we have been using) to electricity which we can get from renewable wind and solar generators. The high efficiency gas boiler the library bought a decade ago will be retained, but as backup for use on the coldest days. |
