New CLAMS Library Network app!
Wondering what to read next? Here are three easy ways to search for new titles. Available for iOS and Android, this app has a broad range of features and functions that will make your library experience a whole lot simpler.
1. Download the new CLAMS Library Network from the app store. Create an account with your card number and password (call us if you need help resetting your password). From the “home” tab, select “Featured Lists”, which will allow you to search by Top Requests, New Releases, Coming Soon, and NYT Best Sellers. You can further narrow your search by type (fiction, nonfiction, spoken CD, DVD, etc.)
2. Access the CLAMS website at info.clamsnet.org and select Novelist Plus on the left-hand side of the page. Select your library (this must match the home library listed on your library card) and enter your card number. You can select from the Recommended Reads Lists on the left-hand side, or choose “I’m in the mood for books that are…” You can also select Quick Links from the orange navigation bar and choose Author Read-alikes.
3. Access the YPL website at yarmouthportlibrary.org and download the latest editions of BookPage magazine.
New titles arriving at YPL will also be featured in the Yardarm link on our website.
If you need more help, we’ll be here Tuesday-Friday, 10 AM to 3 PM (Thursdays until 6 PM) and Saturday, 10 AM to Noon to answer your phone calls and emails.
Websites and Databases
At Yarmouth Port Library, we're committed to helping our patrons find the books they want to read. Because we are a member of the CLAMS library consortium, patrons may request materials from other member libraries Cape-wide, in addition to borrowing from the many wonderful books and movies on our shelves. For materials not available through a CLAMS library, CLAMS card-holders also have state-wide access through the Commonwealth Catalog (https://commonwealthcatalog.org) accessed through the catalog search page. Also listed are a number of websites and databases that will help you find a good book. These sites offer help finding books in series, read-a-likes, and book reviews. Search the CLAMS Catalog
Novelist is a fiction database that provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, and much more for over 120,000 fiction titles.
It also includes information such as Author Read-alikes, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks, and Feature Articles. Novelist Plus s available each time you search a title in the CLAMS catalog as well. This is an excellent way to learn more about the authors, find similar reads, and other books in a series. ____________________ |
